Safety Net's Cybersecurity Course

Chapter 2: Phishing

Welcome to the second chapter of Safety Net’s Cyber Security course! In this chapter, we will explore the importance of keeping our personal information safe in the online world. As digital citizens, it is crucial to understand how to safeguard our personal information and control our digital footprints. By implementing effective privacy measures, we can ensure that our online interactions and personal data remain secure. So, let's dive into the world of online privacy and identity protection.

Personal information, such as your full name, address, bank account, and phone number is valuable and should be treated with care. Phishing is a common cyber threat where attackers trick individuals into revealing their personal information through deceptive emails, messages, or websites.

To avoid phishers from taking your personal information, be wary of emails, messages, or calls from unknown sources asking for personal information, account credentials, or financial details. Phishers often pose as legitimate organizations or individuals to gain your trust, so always approach such communications with skepticism.

In the case you do need to provide information to another party, verify the source before providing any sensitive information or clicking on links. Usually, authentic organizations would ask for your information through their website with “https://” at the beginning of the URL, indicating they use encryption to protect your data.

Congratulations on completing Chapter 2!

In Chapter 3, we will continue exploring the realm of online privacy and identity protection.
